Wooty Woot!!!

It’s another Wednesday of price matching produce @ Wally’s & this week I made a special trip to EL SUPER

El Super is a grocery store chain located primarily in the West Valley

This week they had some awesome produce deals on veggies that I knew I wouldn’t be able to find @ Wally’s

Luckily Wally’s & EL SUPER are less than 2 miles from each other…YAY for saving $$ on gas! LOL

2 bunches of celery – 3/99¢

1.5 lb plums – 3 lb/99¢

8 oz mushrooms – 99¢

1 clam strawberries – 99¢

6 ears corn – 6/99¢

3 squash – 2 lb/99¢

1.5 lb gala apples – 2 lb/99¢

1 lb roma tomatoes – 3 lb/99¢

3 cucumbers – 6/99¢

2.5 lb bananas – 3 lb/99¢

1 head of lettuce – 3/99¢

4 bunches of verdolagas – 4/99¢

TOTAL OOP: $3.07 (used wally’s gift card)

Even if I hadn’t used a gift card to bring down my total oop so low, those are still some AWESOME prices on produce!!!

CVS Super Awesome Diaper/Air freshener Deal!!!

26 Sep

Woo Hooty Woot!!!

I’m super excited about the awesome deal I got at CVS this past week on diapers and air fresheners

2 weeks ago the red CVS machine spit out 2 coupons: a $5 ECB for the beauty club rewards program (guess I had gotten up to $50 in beauty products hehe) AND a $10 off $50 purchase coupon

At the time I was like, Uh what? When am I gonna spend $50 on anything at CVS?? Even before coupons???

But I saved it anyways lol

Well good thing I did!

Shortly after, CVS had a great deal on the airwick freshmatic kit: $4.99-$4/1 freshmatic= 99¢

Plus, if you spent $20 (before q) on these, then you got a $10 ECB

Well if your CVS is anything like mine, they only put out like 8 or 10 of these on the shelf and they don’t restock until after the sale is over. But what I ♥ about CVS is that they issue rainchecks that don’t EVER expire and you still get the ECB (well most of the time…I’ll explain further)

So of course when I went to get this deal, I had to get a raincheck

Fast forward to this past week…

CVS had Slip on diapers on sale 2 pks/$18 plus you got $10 ECB when you bought $25 worth and we had $3/1 coupons for these diapers…Woo Hoo!

PERFECT time to put that $10/$50 coupon to good use!

This is the scenerio I did:

Bought 4 airwick kits, 1 pantene shampoo, 3 packs of huggies slip ons

Airwick: $4.99×4 (raincheck price)= $19.96

pantene: $3.49×1=$3.49

Huggies slip ons: $9×3=$27.00

Total: $50.45

Used the $10/$50 cvs q first

then (4) $4/1 airwick, (3) $3/1 Huggies slipons and (1) Free pantene (mailed q) and $5 ECB (beauty club q)

TOTAL OOP: $8.76

The best part is that this made packets number 4,5 and 6 and at CVS they have this great promo going on right now that if you purchase 6 pks of diapers you get the 7th packet FREE!

Plus I got $10 ECB for purchasing the 3 packs of slipons!

Unfortunately I did not get the $10 for the airwick raincheck because I was a measly 4¢ off the spend $20 get $10 ECB deal 😦

Had I done that deal during the week of the sale, I still would have gotten the $10 ECB because it gives you the $10 ECB even when you’re a few cents off (as much as 10¢ off) But I learned the hard way that this isn’t the case when you do it with a raincheck 😦 Oh well…Now I know for future deals

I’m still pretty happy with the transaction overall: 4 pks huggies slipons, 4 airwicks (already put up in the rooms) and 1 pantene for $8.76 and I have $10 ECB to use for more TP! LOL

FYI: the free huggies pack coupon prints out at the CRT machine 48 hours after you purchase the 6th pack 🙂

Cooking Is Dandy With SANDY

23 Sep

Another Friday means another recipe

This week’s recipe: TACOS

I made ground beef and potato tacos with all the toppings YUM 🙂

Servings 4-6

1-1.5 lb 80% or higher lean ground beef

4 med/large potatoes

garlic powder

onion powder

corn tortillas

vegetable oil

1/4 head of lettuce

8 oz cheddar cheese

3 roma tomatoes or 2 large tomatoes

2 fresh avacados or premade guacamole (I use wholly guacamole)

salsa (I use premade that I’ve frozen, will list recipe in another edition of Cooking Is Dandy with Sandy)

2 pans

cheese grater (if cheese isn’t pre-shredded)

potato peeler

cutting board

2 mixing bowls

paper towels

  1. Peel and wash potatoes
  2. Dice potatoes into small thin squares
  3. Place pan on stove, turn stove on to low-med heat and add 4 TBSP veg oil (allow to warm up)
  4. Add potatoes and season with salt (place lid on pan)
  5. Turn potatoes over frequently with spatula so they don’t burn and cook thoroughly (they will be soft when done) This will be in ~20 min.
  6. Place ground beef in bowl. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder & onion powder to taste. Mix
  7. Just before potatoes are done cooking, add ground beef to the pan and cook until ground beef is cooked thoroughly (browned) ~10 min.
  8. Remove pan from heat and set aside
  9. Place other pan on stove on low heat and add 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  10. Layer 3 paper towels on top of each other and place on the plate and in the bowl
  11. Use tongs to grab a corn tortilla and deep fry it in the pan for ~2 seconds on each side of the tortilla then place the tortilla on the plate with the paper towels to absorb some of the oil
  12. Place 4 TBSP ground beef & potatoes in the tortilla and close it up like a taco. Place a toothpick through both sides of the taco in the center to keep the GB & potato from falling out
  13. With your tongs, place the taco back in the oil pan and deep fry each side for ~1 min or until golden brown and crisp
  14. Place the taco in the bowl with the paper towels to absorb excess oil
  15. Repeat steps 11-14 until you make the desired amount of tacos
  16. Turn off stove when finished
  17. Wash lettuce & tomatoes
  18. Cut lettuce into thin strips, dice tomatoes into small cubes, peel, core and dice avacados into small slices (if using fresh avacados)
  19. Shred cheese if not preshredded
  20. Remove toothpicks from tacos and serve (don’t want people choking on toothpicks lol)
  21. Guests/family can add the desired toppings to tacos (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa & guacamole/avacados)

Hubby doesn’t like his tacos deep fried so I just deep fry the tortilla a little bit and add the ground beef and toppings so if you’re like hubby, you can skip all that deep frying too 😉

I on the other hand don’t mind a good deep fried taco LOL

As mentioned before, I am a member of the CoffeemateUSA Brew Crew

As a member I get to sample and host Coffeemate parties with family and friends

My all time fave flavor: Coffee-mate French Vanilla liquid creamer

I use it to make my vanilla iced coffees, YUMMY!

Vanilla Iced Coffee

  • Water
  • Your favorite coffee
  • sugar
  • ice
  • whip cream (optional)
  • chocolate/caramel syrup (optional)

  • coffee pot/coffeemaker
  • spoon
  • cups

  1. Brew a pot of your favorite coffee and remove from heat
  2. Allow your pot of coffee to cool down
  3. Once cool, pour into cup and add 2 TBSP creamer and 2 TBSP sugar, then stir together
  4. Grab another cup, add a handful of ice and pour coffee over it

Easy Peasy and so YUMMY!!

Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash!

9 Sep

As you may recall, a few weeks ago I posted about the Cran giveaway on FB

I mentioned that they had emailed me to let me know that my guess had been one of the closest to the actual amount of cranberries in the jar (my guess was 1500, actual I believe was 1426)

The email stated that I would be receiving a 2 liter bottle of their new flavor, Cranberry Splash…YUM!!

Well, you can imagine my surprise when FedEX came a knockin’ today

The contents of the package?

A 2 liter bottle of Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash LOL!

I thought for sure I’d be getting a coupon in the mail for a free 2 liter…boy was I wrong 😉

Thanks Sierra Mist!

Didn’t make it to the grocery store last night so my produce trip will be put on hold until Friday
