13 Apr

After two long weeks of party planning & a stomach flu 😦

I’m back and ready to share the savings!!

I have only been to the grocery store once these past 2 weeks so I was more than

anxious to get back to shopping

First let me start off by saying that my girls’ Candyland themed bday party went great

Decorating was A LOT of work but my fam really came through and helped out tremendously

and the end result was really nice

I will post pics once I download them from my memory card

Secondly, I spent a good chunk of last week sick as a dog with a stomach flu…not fun at all

Don’t know what I ate or if it’s just something that was going around because my girls were throwing up for a couple of days too

Easter was great!!

We headed up north to Prescott for the day and spent our time at a picnic campground…wonderful weather

My daughter Loralai was oober excited to open up the Easter basket that her auntie Jenny gave her

Inside was a HUGE 5 lb gummy bear!!

Her and hubby managed to eat the ears

I’m sure it will probably last her until next Easter lol

Today was the first time back grocery shopping and using q’s

So I headed to fry’s, albies and sprouts

Albies & Sprouts TOTAL OOP: $31.XX

Fry’s TOTAL OOP: $13.57

This trip I purchased a ton of organic fruits & veggies simply because I’m trying to get my fam (and myself) to eat more “clean”. I recently read the “dirty dozen” list on organic.org and WHOA!!! Talk about a buttload of pesticides in our fruits & veggies…30-60 kinds in apples alone! Makes you want to stop eating supposedly “good for you” fruits & veggies altogether 😦

Now that’s not to say that I’m gonna go the completely organic route, too expensive, but those top twelve fruits/veggies, I’m going to try to purchase those organic

At least reduce the amount of toxins we’re consuming

I was actually surprised to find that most of the organic produce was fairly inexpensive

I will list prices on the “items purchased/q’s used” section

I was bummed to find the shelf @ albies completely wiped out of fj bacon…I had 6 q’s to use & they expire 4/18 so no point in getting a raincheck 😦

Maybe they’ll restock before the sale ends

21 Mar

Another Wednesday of price matching produce @ Walmart & my third and final mega @ Fry’s 🙂

TOTAL OOP: $19.51

THE GOOD: It was ALL good actually, no bad or ugly…YAY!!! The cashier @ walmart was a fellow couponer. We were talking about the coupons I was using and she couldn’t believe all the cup of noodles were free with those nissin qs we got this past Sunday. She was excited about the cheap angel soft TP and said she was going to stock up on that 🙂 The customer behind me also joined our conversation and we started talking about all the different websites you can print coupons from. Very pleasant trip to Wally’s 🙂 Fry’s was a quick in and out trip except for the part where hubby insisted we get a rotisserie chicken & beans for a quick lunch when we got home since we hadn’t eaten lunch yet…bad idea to go grocery shopping on an empty stomach lol

15 Feb

Did a 3 stop shop today…fry’s, walmart and safeway

Didn’t buy much produce. Mostly because the produce section @ wally’s had been cleaned out before noon!!

TOTAL OOP: $17.46 & got a $2 ONYO

I’m heading out right now for a late lunch but I’ll be back in the evening to write out the list of items purchased & q’s used 🙂

(4) 4 pks activia yogurt – $1/1 activia

$1/1 floral fry’s ecoupon also came off @ fry’s even though I didn’t purchased anything from the floral dept…very strange

2 things I wanted to mention:

#1. I knew before doing the activia “deal” that the $2 onyo that’s been reported would NOT print because my sis tried it a week or 2 ago & it did not print for her nor did it print for me when I purchased 2 last week

I purchased them anyway because it got me to the 10 items I needed to get the $2 onyo

If you’re expecting it to print, DON’T…it’s not printing & i’m not sure it’s even a valid ongoing catalina deal since it’s not on the couponnetwork site which usually lists all the valid ongoing cats

#2: The B2G2 soda deal is buy 2 @ $6.49 (yikes!) and get 2 free + a box of nabisco crackers free

Please keep in mind that the max value on the coke coupon is $4.99 so you end up paying $3 for (4) 12 pks + box of crackers

NOT bad but I held on to the other 2 free q’s I had in hopes of a better deal in the near future

Oh and be prepared for some hassle with these coke q’s @ safeway

The validity of my q’s was questioned by the cashier

The manager had to step in, take them to his office and confirm (don’t know what/how he did this @ his office) that they were not on the “fraudulent” list (rolls eyes)

I guess the CIC holographic sticker & attachment weren’t sufficient proof…

Totally expected this from Safeway though

Luckily the whole spiel took less than 2 min to confirm that it was valid…just like I had told them!!

8 Feb

28 Sep

Wooty Woot!!!

It’s another Wednesday of price matching produce @ Wally’s & this week I made a special trip to EL SUPER

El Super is a grocery store chain located primarily in the West Valley

This week they had some awesome produce deals on veggies that I knew I wouldn’t be able to find @ Wally’s

TOTAL OOP: $3.07 (used wally’s gift card)

Even if I hadn’t used a gift card to bring down my total oop so low, those are still some AWESOME prices on produce!!!

Homemade Strawberry Jam

14 Jul

Last week I finally got around to hosting the Ball Canning party since I was OOC the weekend it was scheduled to be hosted.

This was my first time canning (a first for everyone who attended too!) and I absolutely ♥ it!

My daughter got to help too, she mashed the strawberries 🙂

It was super easy to make homemade strawberry jam (for complete recipe visit ball canning on FB/online or the recipe is usually on your bottle of pectin).

4 pints of strawberries

7 cups of sugar

8 tbsp pectin

1/4 cup lemon juice (optional)

We opened up our jar of jam the very next day! My kids ♥ it, especially since they helped make it

The ingredients above were enough to make (6) 16 oz jars of strawberry jam…talk about super Freapy jam!

I gave all my guests jars to take home to try their own canned recipes…my sis made sauerkraut and plans on making spicy pickled cauliflower too…Mmmmm, can’t wait to try that one :p

Canned fruits and veggies make great freapy gifts to put in gift baskets for bdays or Christmas

If you’re just looking to save some $$ on jam/canned fruits/veggies AND want to spend some family fun time with your kiddos, I highly recommend canning!
